300% Spanish Design, presents the best of Spanish design of the last century through posters, chairs and lamps.
Through three hundred original pieces (a hundred chairs, a hundred lamps and a hundred posters), it shows the Spanish contribution to creative world culture. The exhibition explores the creative potential of Spanish design through three disciplines that have been greatly developed in this country: graphic design, lighting and furniture. In addition, it spotlights Spanish designers, brands and companies. The pieces have been chosen for their representativity – not for being the most successful or commercial – and for their beauty, functionality, geographic origin, originality, boldness or efficiency.
On view are chairs by Antoni Gaudí, Josep Lluís Sert, Rafael Moneo, Oscar Tusquets, or Javier Mariscal among many others. The show features lamps by Fortuny, Tusquets or Coderch, among others. Lastly, in poster-making, there is an overview with examples of the work of people such as Rafael de Penagos, Ramón Casas, Alberto Corazón, América Sánchez, Enric Satué or Peret.
This collection demonstrates that Spain has made a considerable contribution to almost all “isms” of twentieth-century design, and that it enters the twenty-first century with a powerful bent for innovation.
